Kingdom of Hamtun

The Kingdom of Hamtun is an independent libertarian Kingdom within the borders of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Kingdom was founded in 2008 by Stephen Phillips after he became disillusioned with the pro-Freedom movement within the UK. The Kingdom will exist only until the UK leaves the European Union and then it will be dissolved.

Origination of the Name
The name Hamtun comes from the former Roman settlement in the City of Southampton called Hamwic. This settlement was an important trading settlement in what is now called Bitterne near the River Itchen.

Hamwic later became Hamtun and then Hampton, from where the City and County got their names, Southampton and Hampshire, respectively.

Economy
The Kingdom of Hamtun is working towards launching itself as an International Financial Centre (IFC) - Tax Haven. His Majesty King Stephen I has also been discussing a possible trade agreement with another small Kingdom to enable them both to expand their Kingdoms.

Defence
Currently, due to the size of the Kingdom, it has no armed forces but is protected by its Royalty and allies.

There are plans for InterKingdom training exercises and also for the formation of a Defence Agreement for the smaller Nations.

International Relations
As a new Nation and one formed within the boundaries of the United Kingdom, Hamtun will not be recognised by any other Nation for quite a while. The Kingdom is working on the legal stuff so it can carry on as a Kingdom without being interfered with by any other Nation.
