KindyNews is a newspaper in Brisbane, Australia, created in November 2011 for parents of children aged seven and under. It contains articles, information and community support to kindergartens in Brisbane. The paper's publisher is Karen Jackman, a South African journalist who had previously run an expatriate newspaper, the SA Independent, from 1999 to 2003 in Perth, Western Australia. It started as a simple, single A3 sheet black-and-white print community publication which was distributed to kindergartens and child care centres in the western suburbs of Brisbane. Within a few months, the format was changed to a full colour A3 news sheet, supported by a news website. It was created in response to the Government of Queensland's move in 2009 to encourage more young children to attend kindergarten. |
