Kiam Marcelo Junio

Kiam Marcelo Junio, also known as Jerry Blossom, is a Filipino interdisciplinary artist living in Chicago, Illinois known for their "Filipino Fusions" cookbook and online cooking show. They were born in Quezon City, Philippines and got their Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2013 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago after receiving their Associate of arts in Applied Sciences (Respiratory Care) in 2009 from Thomas Edison State College. They work with various forms of media such as photography, video, printmaking, installation, burlesque, and performance art. Along with being a Filipino immigrant, they are also a U.S. Navy veteran, an Asian American, a male-bodied, gender-non conforming, queer artist who prefers the pronouns they/their/them. Their artwork explores the interaction between these identities embodied in themselves and displays them in various mediums.
Awards and exhibitions
Junio has received several awards including a 2015 ACRE residency and the Links Hall Performance Scholarship, an Individual Artist Program Grant in 2014, a 2014 Inside the Artist Kitchen Residency, and the Chances Dances Critical Fierceness Grant from the Mark Aguhar Memorial Fund in early 2013. Junio has exhibited, performed, or been a featured artist at the Center For Art + Thought, The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Red Rover Reading Series, CURRENCY EXXXCHANGE, and the WERQSHOP.
