Khalid Altowelli

Personal Life
Khalid Fuad Abdulghani Al-Mujahid Altowelli. He was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1969. He currently works for Saudi Aramco and as a freelance journalist. He is married with three children, a boy and two girls: Omar; Sara and Alyaa. His mother is Rahma bint Omar bin Abbas Iraqi and he has three Younger siblings; Roa, Waleed and Rafah. He is an advocate Saudi voice for peace with regard to the Palestinian Israeli conflict, but has grown more pesimestic with recent develpments in the Area. In 2007, he told Arab News: “I am hopeful that somehow the concerned parties will be able to produce peace and a viable Palestinian state, but I have been hopeful before on several similar occasions,” .
Education
Completed his education between Jeddah Saudi Arabia and San Francisco, Daytona Beach And Laramie, Wyoming in the United States. He went to school in Thomas Edison elementary and Westlake elementary in Daly City, California. He also went to Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange, Florida and graduated from Al-Thager Model School in Jeddah before joining the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming.
Career
Khalid Altowelli is a Saudi journalist and Public Relations personality known best for his writing for Saudi English language publications and for Saudi Aramco's Corporate publications. He wrote a satire column in Arab News titled "On second thought" from 1994 until 2001, which was one of the leading voices pushing the margins of liberal writing in Saudi Arabia.

He was also involved with handling international media relations for his Company from 2001 through 2005. He coordinated for many international TV and radio stations from around the world spanning from Japan to North America. He was part of organizing the ‘Saudi Days’ events in Singapore and in Manchester, UK in 2004 and 2005, which aimed to educate locals about Saudi Arabian culture and society.
He is a multi lingual writer, researcher and journalist who has many articles, reports and journalistic researches in a number of Saudi-based newspapers. He started writing for Arab News in 1993, but has published articles in Arabic in Saudi Eleqtisadiyah and Al-Watan newspaper. In 2005 he moved to London, UK to work for London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper and wrote an article titled "Find the Gap" discussing freedom of speech and the terrorism that rocked London manifested in the 7 July 2005 London bombings. He also appeared in a Sky TV World Cup special talking about teams and players participating in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Has several more appearances in local and international television stations such Saudi TV1; Saudi Culture TV; Italian Rai 1; Singapore TV; Chinese CCTV. He was in charge of the Media operation for the Saudi Pavilion participating in the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai during which he wrote an article titled “Sailing into the Future” , which appeared in the China Daily newspaper.

Wrote a number of historic articles revolving around the “Haj”, the Muslim annual pilgrimage. The research articles appeared in Al-Qafilah magazine , a Saudi Aramco publication. His name was mentioned in "The Story of Saudi Aramco" volume 1 as a staff editor of the magazine . His researches at the magazine mainly discussed various aspects of this annual season, which has been taking place for 14 centuries including an article about Orientalist visitors who documented their visits to the Muslim holy lands. Published his article: "An Arabian Knight" in Dimensions magazine and Arab News. He also has written a number of novels and short stories including “Den Wars” in Arabic and “Rome Nights” in English, which have yet to be published.
