Kevin Michael Schmitz (born October 1, 1983) is an American advertising and editorial fashion photographer. His work has been published internationally in advertising campaigns, magazines and lookbooks. Early Life and Education Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kevin Michael Schmitz was the second of 2 children. His father is a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and his mother is a school social worker. He grew up in the small town of Middleville, Michigan. He played NCAA Tennis at Grand Valley State University where he attended in Allendale, Michigan. Schmitz spent a summer photographing Mediterranean Europe and decided that he wanted to be a professional photographer for the rest of his life. After graduating with his Bachelors of Science in Photography, Kevin Michael pursued his Masters of Fine Arts in Photography at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, California. After moving cross country to San Francisco, Kevin Michael studied and worked under many top advertising photographers in the Bay Area such as RJ Muna, Erik Butler, Jim Hughes, James Chiang, James Wood, and Christopher Kern. Career Schmitz began an advertising and editorial photography business in San Francisco, California in 2006. After expanding to Los Angeles and New York, Kevin Michael Schmitz started shooting for major modeling agencies such as FORD, ELITE, Wilhelmina, NEXT and VISION. He went on to photograph magazine editorials in ANTENNA Magazine, CMYK, San Diego Magazine, Booklet, and several major fashion spreads in 944 Magazine. He now shoots advertising for fashion designers, ad agencies, products, catalog as well as album covers for the music industry. Personal life Kevin Michael Schmitz resides at the beach in Manhattan Beach, California. He travels internationally for photography and vacations to Europe, Israel and Mexico. He is a sports enthusiast and spends much of his time at the beach.
