Kevin McMurry

Kevin McMurry (Newnan, Georgia) is a senior assistant district attorney in the Coweta Judicial Circuit and is currently running for Superior Court Judge in the Coweta Judicial Circuit, which includes Carroll County, Coweta County, Heard County, Meriwether County and Troup County. The election will take place on July 31, 2012.
Education and career
Kevin McMurry is currently a senior assistant district attorney in the Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office. His felony cases have been featured on national television shows such as CNN [http://www.cnn.com/video/?hpt=hp_t2#/video/us/2011/12/10/peterson-sexual-abuse.cnn], 48 Hours and Snapped . Recently, McMurry prosecuted and tried Robert Ewell for repeated acts of
child molestation and Alec McNaughton for the brutal murder of McNaugton’s wife. Both cases
resulted in convictions with Ewell receiving seven consecutive life sentences.
McMurry has over a decade of trial experience in civil and criminal law. McMurry makes regular appearances in all of Georgia's appellate courts, including the Georgia Supreme Court. Before joining the District Attorney's Office, McMurry was a civil attorney at the litigation firm of Hollberg & Weaver.
McMurry received his Bachelor of Arts in business from Baylor University. He earned his joint law and business graduate degree from Georgia State University, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Today McMurry lives with his wife and four children in Newnan, Georgia. They attend Southside Community Church and are active in the community.
In January 2012, McMurry announced his candidacy for Superior Court Judge in the Coweta Judicial Circuit. District Attorney Peter Skandalakis endorsed McMurry.
