Kevin Dewayne Hughes

Kevin Dewayne Hughes, born October 2, 1974, is an American martial artist who has dedicated his life to preserving, researching, and teaching the martial arts as they were practiced when these arts were used in life and death situations. He has been recognized as one of the leading experts in Japanese and Okinawa martial arts by not only his peers but by the old grand masters of the previous generation. His knowledge is sought after around the world; most often sought by those wishing to change their martial arts system from the modern competition sports based arts of today to the tried and tested battlefield and self-protection arts of the past.
Training
He first started dabbling in martial arts at a very young age but did not get formal introduction to the arts until 1988.
Arts
Kevin Hughes teaches Shorin-ryu Karate, Kobujutsu, Jujutsu, Hakutsuru Kempo, and Japanese Kenjutsu at his dojo located in Decatur, Illinois.
Other information
Kevin Hughes is also the author of the book, Warrior Wisdom: Proverbs, Sayings, and Quotes Used in the Martial Arts, and he has appeared in several martial arts instructional videos produced by AKProductions. He has also been inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall Of Fame in 2009 as a sword master and into the United States of America Hall Of Fame in 2011 as Master of the Year in Japanese and Okinawan Martial Arts.
He is also a trained geologist/hydrogeologist and has published several papers on karst hydrology and sedimentology. He has also used his scientific skills in the field of fuel and filtration and has published and presented several works and has also filed several patent applications related to this field.
