Ketshephaone Jacob

Ketshephaone Jacob is a Botswana entrepreneur and business executive. He is the founder and CEO of Bulb World, a Botswana LED manufacturing company.
Early life and education
Ketshephaone Jacob was born in Tonota and raised in Selebi-Phikwe, Botswana. He pursued a degree in Media Studies at University of Botswana.
Career
Bulb World
Initially working as a teacher, Jacob transitioned into entrepreneurship, in 2017, Jacob founded the Bulb World, a Botswana LED manufacturing company, the company has its main factory located in Selebi-Phikwe, Botswana.
Under Jacob’s leadership, Bulb World has grown from startup into LED manufacturer and supplier across Africa. In 2021, Jacob was recognized among Top 10 finalists in the Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) competition, an initiative by the Jack Ma Foundation. In same year, Bulb World secured P50 million in funding to support its regional expansion which led to establishing factory in Rustenburg, South Africa in 2022. The company served market of South Africa, Namibia, and Mozambique among others.
In 2022, Bulb World secured a deal to supply LED bulbs to Shoprite stores, which includes distribution to approximately 2,300 shops across Africa. Since 2022, as reported the government of Botswana awarded The Bulb World Botswana a contract to install solar and LED streetlights across multiple councils.
In 2022, Bulb World South Africa secured a deal supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This agreement, valued at over R20 million per year, enables the company to supply Power Build hardware stores across South Africa with its lighting products.
