Kerfew

Melvin Hayes (born December 12, 1984) is an American rapper from Chicago.
Biography
Early life
Melvin Hayes, Chicago native, better known as "Kerfew" is an American independent hip hop emcee and producer. He is the founder and co-chief of University of F.A.M.E. He first learned of his lyrical talent while attending the Boys and Girls Club in Chicago. His mentors named him "Kerfew" because while doing his music he would always break his curfew. He first public performance was in front of his peers his freshman year of high school. He used the Hip Hop Rapper Eve’s “What Ya’ll Niggas Want” instrumental. He went on to become a finalist for WGCI Chicago Idol for the years 2003 - 2004.
Music career
Under the guidance of a Chicago promoter, Kerfew hit the Chicago nightlife scene and took his lyrical game to the stage for 200+ crowd on a nightly basis. Kerfew released a mixtape “The Heart of The City,”in December 2009, where he headlined his first sold out live show. The fifteen track CD featured his hit club single “Now U Know” and "Swag Match My Bag" featuring management mate Chicago Pop Artist J-Lyn. On January 11, 2011 Kerfew performed on BET's 106 & Park and won the opportunity to appear again for the W.O.W Allstars.
On August 3, 2011 the new single "Stupid Flow" from the LP was released from digital download for iTunes.
