Kenneth Bone was an audience member during the second of the United States presidential election debates in 2016. He asked "What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs, while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimizing job loss for fossil power plant workers?" He gained popularity on the internet due to his name, appearance, and his use of a disposable camera at the debate. Prior to the debate he had only seven followers on Twitter, and less than 48 hours that number had grown to more than 100,000. He works in the fossil fuel industry. Bone said he used a disposable camera because all electronic devices were prohibited in the debate arena. He also said that he had a suit, but it ripped right before the debate and that is why he wore what became his distinctive red sweater. He has been urged to run for president, however, he stated he is not old enough.
