Kathryn Winkfein

Kathryn Winkfein, age 72, gained media attention when she was tasered after being pulled over near Austin, Texas.
The incident
Just after 2 p.m. on On May 11, 2009, Kathryn Winkfein was pulled over by Deputy Constable Chris Bieze. She refused to sign for the ticket and got out of her vehicle. Ms. Winkfein started using profane language and started walking back to her vehicle; Constable Bieze pushed her back (apparently to avoid being hit by traffic) in which Winkfein replied ""You're gonna shove me?! You're gonna shove a 72 year old woman." Constable Bieze pulled out his taser and after several heeded warnings were ignored tasered Ms. Winkfein.
Aftermath
Ms. Winkfein was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and was later released. On June 9, The dashcam video of the incident was released. The video has received mixed reactions and is raised questions by many about the justification of the tasering. Law enforcement officials have defended the tasering. The cities Distant Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg is to review this case.
