Katherine Laura Gibbs is an American-born fashion model, educator, designer of British, German, and Austrian descent. Her maternal grandfather is Paul Fredricks, a brass jazz musician of the Big Bands Era of the 1940s . Following the Elite Model Management Look of the Year Contest, Kate turned down the opportunity to work with several modeling agencies to pursue studies at Villanova University, where she graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration and completed a program on Spanish and European studies at the University of Seville in Spain. After graduating in four years, she shot the first advertising campaign for designer Adrienne Landau and spent years working in the fashion industry. She was represented by Bryan Bantry and Elite Models and featured in various jobs for clients including the City of New York, Alice and Olivia, Vespa, Diane von Fürstenberg, Vivienne Tam, and others , including business work inside the fashion houses of Diane von Fürstenberg and Vivienne Tam, covering the areas of front-of-house public relations, visuals, design, and styling for red carpet and film. Raised in a family of educators, musicians, and artists, community service was instilled in Kate at a very young age . She has worked to help causes in a number of roles including international mission work and assistance of domestic and international organizations. Continuing a lifetime of community service begun as a child, she notably left full-time work in fashion to accept a position in a government fellowship in education in an underprivileged district near New York where she remains to continue work as a teacher, interpreter, and assisting in development of a leadership academy magnet and pilot foreign language infusion program and is involved with UNICEF, the Clinton Foundation, the Nature Conservancy.
