Axelrod is also revered for her groundbreaking research and advocacy on behalf of the American homeless, in conjunction with Colia Clark. She is most recently the author of Get Us Off Our Plates, published by Riverhead in 2010, a foodie manifesto that calls for "an abandonment of prissified culinary morality" and a return to "conscientious decadence."
