A KARK is a method of modifying the air box of pre-EFI Hinckley Triumph Bonneville, Bonneville T100 and Thruxton motorcycles to allow the fitting of a pair of pod-type air filters in place of the single stock air filter. This method makes it possible to retain the original stock air filter housing for use as a tool storage compartment with a fabric cover (close to the motorcycle's centre of mass) as well as all the existing mounting points for relays, fuse box, rear brake reservoir, battery compartment and rear fender. In terms of both performance and visual impact, the result is largely the same as many expensive after-market versions - hence it has been widely adopted by those wishing to perform their own modifications within a budget. It is commonly accompanied by other performance modifications to the new Triumph Bonneville and its variants, such as the installation of big-bore piston kits, larger diameter carburettors and freer flowing exhaust pipes. The term KARK is an acronym of "Keef's Airbox Replacement Kit" and is a variation of the term NARK - "Newbonneville Airbox Replacement Kit". It was first used in this context following a series of blogs and articles published on a popular Triumph motorcycle forum.
