Karan Rao

Karan Rao
(March 21st 1982) is an Indian fashion model, producer and partner in Bangalore-based film production company Gold Chase Motion Pictures along with Filmmaker Saad Khan.
Karan is the Executive Producer of Station, an upcoming thriller film written and directed by Saad Khan and produced by Sumit Ghosh Media. Karan’s motivation to make the movie is as much about discovering talent within Bangalore as it is fulfilling his ambition to be a producer. In the production, Karan has concentrated on sourcing local talent instead of turning to the obvious pool in Mumbai, a decision that has wielded positive results.
As well as modelling and producing, Karan has voiced his wish to make the transition to the world of acting, suggesting that he would like to work with film producers again
Early life and Career
Karan was born and brought up in Bangalore. After graduating from Christ University, he became one of Bangalore’s premiere fashion models and the face of many Indian advertising brands. Karan has walked the ramp for RohitBal, Manish Malhotra, Suneet Verma, Vikram Phadnis, Ritu Kumar, Vijay Arora, Duo Shantanu to name a few.
Awards and Achievements
Karan Rao grabbed the award of the most promising model at the second edition of VHIMW in 2010.
In addition to winning the Gladrags Man Hunt in 2008, Karan has added the award of most promising model at the second edition of VHIMW to his already impressive CV and is a passionate movie enthusiast. This led him to pursuing film production as a career and he received a Master’s degree in Film Production from Bristol University, United Kingdom. He also worked with the BBC overseeing production for its documentary division. Whilst in the UK Karan also made a short film, Suburban Symphony.
