Kao Denero

Amara Dennis Turay akaKao Denero is a hip hop artist that has become well-known throughout West Africa and the West African diaspora throughout the world. He is one of the most well known rap artists from the small country of Sierra Leone, and has also been called the "King of Freetown", after a successful album of the same title was released. Other albums are "Freetown's Most Wanted", and 2008's "A New Beginning".
History
Kao started rapping at an early age in his native country of Sierra Leone. He gained a following after numerous performances and competitions in Freetown, and eventually began to record pioneering hip hop albums under the Black Leo record company of 17.
Career
Kao has collaborated with other popular African music artists Emerson Bockarie (the hit song De Day), and Guinean rap group, Methodix. He is reportedly the first Sierra Leonean music artist to release a double album, start his own clothing line "Black Leo Wear", and record with a Grammy Award winning artist Shabba Ranks,(Trouble).).
Kao relocated to Philadelphia, PA, in 2000 and continues to perform throughout the world. He was most recently in Sierra Leone for the release of "A New Beginning" in April, 2008. Kao appears in Sweet Salone, the 2008 cinema verite, production produced by Sieh Samura. Kao Denero is the CEO of Black Leo Records.
Although much of the success of Kao Denero and his Back Leo empire is closely accredited to the his Spokeperson and Co-Manager Jasper Sembie, the unique lyrical prowess of Kao Denero is the most applauded amongst hip hop lovers in Sierra Leone.His hard work and dedication,style and delivery is undoutedly beyond compare.Recently, roumour has is that Kao's relationship with Jasper fell on rocks, leading to Jasper leaving the management of Kao and the record label to continue his banking career. Kao Denero is the first Sierra Leonean Rapper to have won a Hip Hop award in the country; the only Sierra Leonean Artist that can claim consistency in genre, and the first to establish a clothing line in the country.
