Kamran Jawaid

Kamran Jawaid (also credited as Mohammad Kamran Jawaid and MKJ), born April 29, 1982, is a film critic from Karachi, Pakistan known for his stylish, slightly gonzo influenced film reviews, which primarily appear in Images Magazine. He is also a self-taught filmmaker.

Considered one of Pakistan’s more cerebral and better known film critics, Jawaid's journalistic style often includes keen technical insights of filmmaking and large paragraphs relating to specific scenes within the movie. His reviews also don't shy away from quoting other film critics or journalists. His most quoted film critics are A.O. Scott and Roger Ebert.

Most of his smaller reviews abstain from revealing too much of the film's story, which he believes ruins the flavor of his reviews. Instead of an expanded synopsis, he chooses to deliberate over the directors vision for the story .

Currently Jawaid enjoys exclusive contents for the newspaper magazine including a Second Opinion review section (collaborated with Farheen Jawaid) and yearly Oscar Predictions.

In his blog he cites A.O. Scott, Roger Ebert, David Edelstein, Elvis Mitchell, J.Hoberman and Mick LaSalle as major influences.

Kamran Jawaid, also has experience in motion picture development in Hollywood. He is currently developing The Axon Theory, An Accidental Tourist and The Man Who Never Forgot, under his production banner The K Development Company.
