Kamla (game)

Kamla is a first-person survival horror game developed by Pune-based Mad Mantra Games. It was released in on 7 May 2024 for Windows, and on 8 February 2025 for Android and iOS.

Plot
Kamla is set in a rural area in India in the 1980s. The player, a tantrik priest, has been called to a mansion to exorcise a demon out of a newlywed wife named Kamla. Upon her possession, Kamla's husband abandoned her to save his life. As the priest explores the mansion to collect the items needed for the exorcism, the possessed Kamla tries to search for him to stop the ritual from taking place.
Upon collecting all the items, the priest arranges them in the altar and recites the Hanuman Chalisa, forcing the spirit to leave Kamla's body and saves her in the process.
The studio aimed to work on a game based on Indian folklore and culture.
On Android, Kamala received almost 1.35 million pre-registrations before its release on 8 February. The game rose to popularity due to its eerie environment and storytelling.
