Kama Chinen

was a Japanese supercentenarian, who, at the age of 114 years, 124 days, became the oldest validated living person when American supercentenarian Gertrude Baines (born ) died on . Chinen died on , eight days before her 115th birthday. At the time of her death, she was the second oldest verified Japanese person ever (behind Tane Ikai) and the oldest verified person ever from Okinawa.
Health status
In September 2008, Chinen was reported to be in a wheelchair: "Though her daily activities require assistance, she enjoys going outside in a wheelchair with a nurse", the ministry said.
Death
Chinen died at 4:40 PM on in . She was 114 years and 357 days old. Her death left Eugénie Blanchard as the world's oldest living person and Chiyono Hasegawa as the oldest living person in Japan. Her privacy was so closely guarded by her family that her name was not given in many Japanese newspaper reports about her death.
