Kaan Önder, (born 10 January 1997 in Istanbul) is a postdoctoral researcher at ICTA-UAB. In 2019 he got his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical Physics from the University of Southampton. In 2019 he moved to University of Cambridge and got his MASt and later PhD degrees in the high energy physics group at DAMTP. His PhD supervisor was David Tong and he earned his PhD studying dynamics of chiral fermions. Political Economy He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of Autonomous University of Barcelona ICTA-UAB under the supervision of Jason Hickel. Within the REAL project, works on quantifying the material and labour needed to provide decent living standards for everyone. In particular, his research focus is on understanding how much labour and material usage is required for a just transition which abolishes unequal exchange. For Kaan, degrowth research must go hand in hand with the radical political struggle necessary to implement it.
