June Takahashi

June Takahashi is a Canadian judoka, author, and senior instructor at the the Takahashi Martial Arts School in Ottawa, Ontario, which was founded by her husband Masao Takahashi in 1969. She was one of the first women in Canada to earn a black belt in the Japanese martial art Judo, and is now ranked roku-dan (sixth-degree black belt), making her one of the highest-ranked women in the country. Takahashi was influenced by Keiko Fukuda, and trained Cameroonian judoka Françoise Nguele.
Takahashi was a founding member and served on the first permanent board of directors of the Ottawa Japanese Community Association, which was founded in 1976 to, among other things, to lobby the Canadian government for reparations for the treatment of Japanese-Canadians during the Second World War.
In 2005 Takahashi co-authored a book titled Mastering Judo with her husband and four children, Allyn Takahashi, Phil Takahashi, Ray Takahashi, and Tina Takahashi.<ref name="MJ"/>
