June 2005 California earthquakes

During a two week period in June, 2005, a series of moderate to strong earthquakes struck California, USA.

On Sunday morning, June 12, an earthquake measured at magnitude 5.1 struck Southern California, centered in the town of Anza, California.

Two days later, on Tuesday evening, June 14, an earthquake measured at magnitude 7.2, struck off the coast near Crescent City in Northern California, prompting tsunami warnings all along California's Pacific coast. Two aftershocks struck on and before June 19, with magnitudes of 6.7 and 5.0.

On June 16, another earthquake occurred, measured at magnitude 4.9 and centered near Yucaipa, California.

Finally, on June 26, another earthquake, measured at magnitude 4.8, struck at a depth of 7.1 km (4.4 mi) and was centered around Truckee, California.

Due to these earthquakes, some residents have begun preparing for the "", a large hypothetical earthquake.
