Julian Schreibman

Julian Schreibman (born c. 1972) is currently a Democratic candidate for United States Congress in the . He spent ten years after graduating law school in public service working for the CIA, Assistant US Attorney and Ulster County District Attorney's office. He lives in Kingston with his wife, Shannon, and their three children.
Background
Julian Schreibman grew up in Ulster County and graduated from Kingston High School in 1990. He received a B.A. in History from Yale in 1994 and earned his law degree from Yale Law School in 1997. Before and during law school, Schreibman interned with Action, Not Gridlock!, a non-partisan government reform organization, and the International Human Rights Law Group. In 1998, Schreibman started working for the Central Intelligence Agency's Office of General Council. He has also worked as a federal prosecutor for the Southern District of New York and as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in Ulster County.
1998-2002
While at the CIA, Schreibman received the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award for assisting in the prosecution of United States v. Osama bin Laden, which led to the conviction of four al-Qaeda members for the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
2002-2005
Following the CIA, he worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where he prosecuted narcotics trafficking rings as well as white-collar criminals.
2005-2008
From 2005-2008, Schreibman was a Senior Assistant District Attorney in Ulster County New York. While with the DA's office, Julian handled various types of criminal cases including homicide, gang assault, sexual assault, and child abuse. Julian was in charge of the largest Grand Jury investigation in Ulster County history regarding the over budget, years-late construction of the Ulster County jail.
2008-present
In 2008, he was elected chairman of the Ulster County Democratic Committee. In 2012, he resigned his chairmanship to run for United States Congress.
In July 2012, he defeated Joel Tyner to secure Democratic nomination for the 19th Congressional District seat.
