Julian Barry

Julian Barry, born 6 August 1982, is an English singer, songwriter and musician born in Bournemouth, UK where he still lives now.

In 2006, he debuted with the release of the E.P "A Lesson To Learn" recorded with his former band 'Tranquility'. The single "Mr. Opposite" became a hit in the UK, charting at #2 in the unsigned chart at (www.bandsunsigned.co.uk). Followed by top ten hits such as "You're Still The Same" and "You Know That I Care" in the same chart. Julian went solo in the early part of 2007 and shortly after recorded an E.P called "The Hour Of Judgment". His debut single "Nothing's How It Used To Be" (from his forthcoming album) is due for download and official release on 30th November 2008 from all good online music stores prior to the release of his debut album.

Early Life

Julian Barry started playing the guitar at the age 8, after a break of 5 years he started playing again at the age of 13, inspired by Oasis mastermind Noel Gallagher. He started writing his own material as soon as he could play his first few chords, penning lyrics whenever he got the chance. Some of his favourite artists are Jeff Buckley, Oasis, Damien Rice, The Beatles, Muse, Radiohead, Nirvana and many more. He is totally self taught in guitar, singing and piano.

Music Career

From leaving school onwards, Julian formed various bands in which he fronted but could never stayed together for long due to commitments from other band members. Julian kept on pursuing his dream and decided to re-form a band with some old school friends. They had various names but stuck with one and eventually ended up as a three peice alternative/indie band. After 5 years of 'success' and with a string of hits in the unsigned UK charts, Julian decided the only way in which he would acheive his true goals would be by going solo.

He did so and in early 2007 he started writing new material and working on his debut album 'The Land Of Empty Promises' which is currently being recorded and is due for release sometime next year on Phantomystery Records. Prior to the release of his album alot of intrigue built up over what Julian's new sound would be like, so he quickly put together a four track E.P entitled 'The Hour Of Judgement' it was to be a taster of things to come, and gained Julian a fan-base of his own.
