Joshua Brennan

Joshua Brennan (May 30, 1985 - October 26, 2007) was a sergeant in the United States army who died from wounds sustained during Operation Rock Avalanche in Asadabad, Afghanistan.
Early Life
Brennan was born on May 30, 1985 in El Paso, to Janice Sue Gates and Michael Brennan, who both served with the military police in the Army. He grew up in Ontario, Oregon and graduated in 2003 from Ontario High School.
Military Career
Brennan served with the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Combat Team. During his first tour of duty, he was awarded a Bronze Star and named Soldier of the Year for his brigade.
Death
In October of 2007, Brennan was leading a platoon which was ambushed by Taliban forces. He was shot 6 times, and Taliban soldiers began to drag him away. Soldiers from Brennan's squad, including Sergeant Sal Giunta, were able to rescue Brennan while still under fire. Sergeant Giunta received the Medal of Honor, the military's highest citation, for his actions on November 16, 2010 from President Barack Obama at a White House ceremony.
