Joshua Paul Hellyer (born June 5, 1985), is a Canadian media producer, personality, author and social entrepreneur. Hellyer was born and raised in Norfolk County, Ontario. He relocated to Toronto to attend Ryerson University’s Radio and Television Arts program. <big>Television Career</big> Hellyer's pull towards television started at an early age, and at 15 years old, he Executive Produced, and hosted a weekly television program which aired via his local community cable access station. The production team was made up of his friends and classmates, and the show ran for 50 episodes. Upon moving to Toronto in 2003, Hellyer gained success in the television world by becoming a producer for CTV’s Canadian Idol at the age of 21. For four seasons, Hellyer remained with Idol before he moved to Sandra Faire and Associates, where he became a producer of So You Think You Can Dance Canada (SYTYCDC). Mr. Hellyer's ability to connect with and entertain large crowds landed him in the spotlight when the role of audience warm-up host was added to his list of responsibilities at SYTYCDC. Hellyer’s talent immediately grabbed the attention of Canada’s leading performers, producers and press outlets. TV Guide wrote, “aside from the dancers Josh Hellyer makes a SYTYCDC taping extremely worth attending! In March of 2012, Josh Hellyer created and hosted several pilot episodes of a web-based talk show called “The Josh Hellyer Show”. Hellyer interviewed notable Canadian celebrities including Ben Mulroney, Brian Williams and Rex Harrington. Mr. Hellyer has also been a producer for CTV’s Canada AM, and worked on a Canadian production produced by Mark Burnett. Mr. Hellyer is the creator of the Campaign to #FACEIT, which was a global movement to break the stigma surrounding mental illness, addiction and post traumatic stress disorder. Hellyer mailed over 4000 free t-shirts to people around the world, which proudly displayed the words "I'm the Face of...(insert condition)". The campaign's goal was to show the world that mental illness, addiction and PTSD touch every single person in the world, and we should #FACEIT rather than run from it. A legacy of the campaign was the creation of a mental health service portal, which helps individuals looking for local support services easily find the help they need by inputing their post-code and level of urgency , suicide and poverty rate. Mr. Hellyer's third book, is set for release in summer of 2019. <big>Personal Life</big> Mr. Hellyer lives in Toronto, and is the Grandson of politician Paul Hellyer, and the Second Great Grandson of Canadian Industrialist Sen. . Hellyer's family was the first to discover and grow Ginseng root in Ontario, dating back to the late 1800's. M.J O'Brien, and his son Ambrose were the original financiers and creators of what would eventually become the National Hockey League and the Montreal Canadiens.
