Joseph F. Darowski

Joseph F. Darowski is an American documentary editor and historian of the Latter Day Saint movement. He received a BS in sociology from Cornell University before doing graduate work at the College of William and Mary. He completed his MA in History at Brigham Young University. His thesis, “Utah’s Plight: A Passage Through the Great Depression,” focused on the conflict between federal and LDS aid programs for those affected by the Great Depression. In 2002, he was hired as a historian and editor with the Joseph Smith Papers Project. Since joining the Joseph Smith Papers Project, he has published on the early Latter Day Saint school of the prophets and the development of councils within church government. He earned a diploma from the Institute for the Editing of Historical Documents at the University of Wisconsin—Madison.
