Joseph Allegro also known as "Joey" (born June 26, 1909) Brownsville, Brooklyn- April 1995 Maspeth, Queens) was an Italian-American associate of the New York Lucchese crime family who worked in a crew under caporegime Paul Vario. Biography In the 1950s and 1960's, Allegro performed hijackings for and gangland executions for Paul Vario. Allegro was a close friend of fellow "stick-up men" and Stanley Diamond. Allegro was paid a fixed rate for each hijacking, usually a flat several thousand dollars just for shoving a gun in the truck driver's face. He did not receive any percentage of the actual hijacked goods.
