Jorge B. Perez

Jorge B. Perez (Born Jorge Bernardo Perez on September 8, 1979) is a Spanish-Cuban-American visual artist, performance artist, and experimental film maker. Born in Madrid, Spain and raised in Miami, Florida from the age of 7. He has been drawing and painting from a very young age, By the time he turned 14 years old he was already displaying his work around Miami and building a very impressive collection of art. He began doing performance art when he was 16. He had several characters he would perform. The character that drew the most attention was La Puta Plastica, which translates to "Plastic Bitch". The character developed into a dark haired vamp like latina transsexual. The character caught the attention of producers from day time tv shows like Maury Povich and from Howard Stern's radio show. In 2000 Jorge B. Perez moved to NYC to pursue his visual art more intensely. He's been displayed in numerous group shows and has had 4 one man shows. His works cover a lot of subjects. Evolution, Life, Death, mysticism, transsexuals, blood, monsters, plastic surgery have all been subjects of his work. His work usually has a dark edge to it. He has said that he is inspired by the darker things in life as well as people on the street, youth culture, his personal heroes and mainly by his own life and experiences.
