Compiere was founded in 1999 by Jorg Janke
First Version
In 1999, Jorg Janke and Kathy Pink started the development of the Java-based solutions, Compiere, and in 2000 installed the first version of the software. The first installation was sponsored by Goodyear Germany. The pilot site has been in production since May 2000.
Compiere is used by small- to medium-sized enterprises worldwide. There are nearly 100 Compiere Partners supporting Compiere clients around the globe, while the Compiere development community is more active than ever. The program has been implemented in a wide variety of industries as well as by government agencies.

Awards for Compiere
Compiere ERP was named the Best of Open Source Enterprise Software in IDG's 2009 InfoWorld Best of Open Source Software (Bossie) Awards, marking the second consecutive year the company has earned the honor. InfoWorld's annual Bossie Awards recognize the best open source products for business, including enterprise software, developer tools, networking software and platforms and middleware. This year, the InfoWorld Test Center identified the top 40 most promising and cost-effective products available to IT organizations.
