Jonathan Morton

Jonthan Morton (born 12 February 1989) is a New Zealand motorsport race engineer and motorsport TV reporter. He is currently the engineer for the SpeedSport Scholarship, engineering the likes of Liam Lawson during his career. Morton is also the 'local Formula First Expert' for the New Zealand Formula First Championship's in-house broadcast 'Formula First TV'.
Personal
A Massey University Bachelor of Commerce second-year drop out, Morton then attended UCOL to earn a certificate in Motorsport. A short time later he completed his Collision Repair Technician apprenticeship. After no prior experience in the media industry, Morton became a part of the Formula First TV crew, co-hosting with Sheridan Bonner. Reporting for New Zealand Formula First Championship events throughout the country since mid-2017, Morton continued to impress with outstanding commentary pieces alongside Bonner.
Career
Television
Working for the New Zealand Formula First Championship since May 2017 , Morton has worked with the likes of Jonathan Green, presenter for the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand. Morton's current role is the 'Local Formula First Expert' on the broadcasts.
Race Engineering
Morton is known in the local New Zealand racing scene as an expert race engineer, assisting the likes of Liam Lawson and currently Ronan Murphy, son of touring car legend, Greg Murphy through the start of their careers.
Morton is also the SpeedSport Scholarship engineer, part of the Sabre Motorsport team. The SpeedSport Scholarship allows young drivers a fully paid season in the New Zealand Formula First Championship to give their thriving careers a boost in the early stages.
