Jonathan McHugh

Jonathan McHugh is an independent film producer and music supervisor who has held high-level corporate film and music creative executive positions at New Line Cinema/Warner Brothers; (VP Soundtracks,) Sony Records (Sr. VP Film & TV), and Universal Records (Sr. VP Visual Media) over the past few decades.
McHugh has produced over 20 films and TV shows including We Are X, which debuted at Sundance’s World Dramatic Documentary competition and received an award for Best Editing in a World Cinema Documentary. McHugh also recently music supervised Janis: Little Girl Blue with Academy Award-winning producer Alex Gibney and Academy Award-nominated director Amy Berg.
During his time as Vice President at IDJ/Universal Music, McHugh produced several notable films, including Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Morgan Spurlock's Sony Classics documentary The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Lionsgate's Repo The Generic Opera, Lifetime's Flying By, the Paramount film Crossroads, and Discovery's Battle Ground Earth. Beforehand, he was Vice President of Visual Media at Jive/BMG, where he helped launch Zomba Films and co-produced soundtracks for several films, including Nickelodeon's The Wild Thornberrys Movie and Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. He also co-wrote and produced the Lions Gate feature film ' starring Jason Alexander, Danny Trejo and Anson Mount.

McHugh has been a music supervisor for over 60 feature films and TV including the Lionsgate film Spare Parts starring George Lopez and Marisa Tomei, Ping Pong Summer starring Susan Sarandon, the Peter Jackson produced documentary West of Memphis, the Polish brothers' comedy Hot Bot, and Televisa Films comedy Sundown. More recently, he has executive produced Cowboy Drifter, directed by Michael Lange.
As Vice President of Soundtracks at New Line Cinema, McHugh co-produced many platinum and gold soundtracks including Austin Powers, The Wedding Singer, Boogie Nights, Rush Hour, Blade, Mortal Kombat II, Love Jones, and Money Talks. McHugh is Documentary committee member of the Producers Guild of America and the secretary and founding member of the Guild of Music Supervisors.
