Jonah Herscu is an American professional basketball coach who is an assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Coaching career Herscu began his career working in professional basketball as a member of the basketball operations staff for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA G-League in 2012. In 2013, Herscu worked for the Chicago Sky of the WNBA as a member of the video and scouting staff. From 2013 to 2015, Herscu was a video intern for the Chicago Bulls. In 2015, Herscu was named an assistant coach for the Mad Ants. In 2016, Herscu was named as an assistant coach for the Chicago Sky under head coach Pokey Chatman. In 2016, Herscu was hired as an assistant video coordinator for the Los Angeles Lakers, he worked as an assistant video coordinator until 2018. From 2018 to 2019, he was an advance scout and player development assistant for the Lakers. In 2019, Herscu was hired as an advanced scout for the Sacramento Kings. Starting in the 2021-22 season, Herscu was named an assistant coach for the Kings. From 2019 to 2022 he worked under head coaches Luke Walton, Alvin Gentry, and Mike Brown. In 2022, Herscu joined the Portland Trail Blazers as an assistant coach under head coach Chauncey Billups. Personal life Herscu was born in Amherst, Massachusetts. He graduated from Lake Forest College with a degree in Coaching: Personal Identity, Sports Psychology and Leadership. He graduated with a master's degree in Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy.
