John S. ("Jack") McCain IV is the great-grandson of World War II Admiral John S. McCain, Sr., grandson of Vietnam-era Admiral John S. McCain, Jr., and the son of Senator (and 2008 Republican presidential nominee) John S. McCain III. Like three generations of his predecessors, "Jack" McCain graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy. Ironically, on May 22, 2009, Jack McCain was presented with his Naval Academy diploma and officer's commission by President Barack Obama, the man who defeated Jack's father in the 2008 presidential election. Since then, Jack McCain has qualified as a naval aviator, often "tweeting" about his experiences learning to fly and training to serve as a commissioned officer.
