Aaron Deskins

Aaron Deskins (born August 25, 1988) is a blogger in the United States and owner of the blog The Chronicles of a 21st Century Coal Miner and a possible Democratic candidate for the 2010 House of Delegates Race in Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
Deskins became a locally well-known figure in the mid-2000s following his often witty weblog, and several politically-charged opinion editorials in the Beckley Newspapers publication, The Register Herald.
Early life
Deskins, the fifth out of six siblings, was born in Alderson, West Virginia. The son of Debra and Dean Deskins, a former Coal Miner, farmer, carpenter and currently an employee of The Greenbrier Resort.
Deskins grew up in Monroe County, West Virginia, While also briefly living in Pocahontas County and Greenbrier County, both in West Virginia. Deskins has often said there's no place like southern West Virginia, and it will always be his home. Deskins was raised a Southern Baptist and continues to practice the faith. Deskins attended Union Elementary School, Mountainview Middle School, Gap Mills Middle School, as well as Eastern Greenbrier Junior High. His High Schools were Greenbrier East High School and James Monroe High School.
Career
Deskins started working at several miscellaneous low profile jobs across southern West Virginia, before landing his break-through small business, Deskins Technologies at the young age of 19.
Paired with his age and ambition, Deskins Technologies and Deskins himself were awarded the prestigious Cambridge's Who's Who Among America's Young Entrepreneurs Award in 2007. The successes of Deskins Technologies were short lived, as the business went under and was dissolved in 2008, an early casualty to the American Recession.
Rather than find another local job opportunity, Deskins traveled the United States, visiting a total of 33 states from coast to coast, keeping a weblog of his travels, before residing in a small north Texas town, Nocona.
Deskins returned to West Virginia in late 2008, where we sought out to be a coal miner, following the profession of many men in his family.
Politics
Deskins entered politics in high school, while taking Law Studies Class at Greenbrier East High School and James Monroe High School in Monroe County, West Virginia.
In 2004, Deskins was the youngest of many volunteers at the Democratic National Committee Subquarters in Lewisburg, West Virginia, encouraging voters to get out and vote - even on his behalf, as he was only 16. Deskins campaigned vigorously in a failed attempt to deliver West Virginia and its 5 Electoral Votes to Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts in his failed bid for the Presidency against President George W. Bush.
Following Senator John Kerry's defeat in November 2004, Deskins became an early-on grass-roots supporter for Senator Hillary Clinton of New York, more than two years before the Senator would announce her plans to seek the Presidency.
Following former Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's annoucement to run for President in January 2007, Deskins was selected to head the Greenbrier County grass-roots campaign in West Virginia. Deskins was a prominent blogger on the Senator's website, giving his fair arguments of his support of Clinton, and raising concerns over a possible Obama Administration. Deskins was most notable, however, in making predictions of Super Tuesday more than a week before the actual voting of the states, he predicted the results with decisive accuracy; only predicting Missouri and Massachusetts wrongfully to Clinton and Obama, respectively, out of 27 states to vote on Super Tuesday.
Senator Clinton conceded her campaign to Democratic Nominee Senator Barack Obama in June 2008; following the announcement, Deskins refused to support Senator Barack Obama and instead he changed his Democratic support in favor of Republican Senator John McCain, the Republican Nominee. Following the move, Deskins was forced out of his local charter with the West Virginia Young Democrats and lost his post as a key grass-roots supporter.
Rather than hurting Deskins, his removal allowed him to grow his political bid following a Register-Herald Opinion Editorial response to the WRON-FM House of Delegate Debate, Politics and Pastries in October 2008. Deskins lampooned all the candidates for their unanimous opposition to The Greenbrier Resort Casino bill. The bill later passed in November 2008 by just 40 odd-sum votes. Prior to the successful vote, however, Deskins said in quote -

Im disappointed in all the Candidates in the Greenbrier Valley running for the House of Delegates, both Republican and Democrat, for their stiff opposition to the casino bill. It saddens me our politicians continue to put their personal feelings ahead of the needs of their constituents. I highly doubt any viable solution exists for the Resort's recovery without the passage of the Casino bill. Without the Resort, Greenbrier and Monroe Counties economies will tank indefinitely. Yet our elected officials continue to 'play it safe' and spearhead the effort to revive the Resort, it's truly a shame.

Deskins has since sharpened his tongue against President Obama, calling the bailout and stimulus bill a disgrace and stating he "would rather see big business fail, especially the crooks of AIG and the Insurance Industry, they should be allowed to fail just like the millions of small businesses that have already, besides, where's my bailout at?"
