John S Harrison (1909-1987) played with Leith Athletic F.C. He played Centre Half and was captain of the team. Also on this team were Chris Duffy, Andrew Miekelham and David Barker. He joined Montrose F.C. around 1937 and captained this team as well. Montrose F.C. played at Station Park in Montrose. At this time Football players were mostly part time players and had a job as well. John Harrison worked as an Electrician with the Wemyss Coal Company at the Wellesley Colliery in Methil, Fife. During WW2 John worked as an Electrician at the Royal Naval Dockyard, Rosyth in Fife, he was transferred to the Naval Dockyard at Scapa Flow in the Orkney Islands where he worked for the duration of WW2. He was in Orkney Island when the Royal Navy's HMS Royal Oak was sunk in the harbor October 1939. John and his wife Elizabeth emigrated to Mississauga, Ontario, Canada where they spent the rest of their lives
