John M. Drew (born May 31, 1973) is the tax collector of Nassau County, Florida. He was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush in May 2006 and subsequently elected to the office later that year. As a tax collector, Drew is responsible for property tax collection and oversight of Florida's Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the Division of Driver Licenses, and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission. Background Early life and family Drew was born in Nassau County, Florida. He is married to Catherine Hardee Drew, a clinical psychologist and CEO of Florida Psychological Associates. They have one son, Joseph Drew. Education Drew graduated from Fernandina Beach High School after founding the "Nassau County Teen-Age Republicans". Public service In addition to his role as a tax collector, Drew serves as Chair of Legislative Policy (Gubernatorial Appointee) for the Northeast Florida Regional Council and is a member (and previous Chair) of Nassau County's ADA Advisory Committee. Republican Party Drew was previously the Vice Chairman of the Nassau County Republican Party and has been a Precinct Committee member since 2000. a facility in Nassau County for domestic violence victims and is on its board. Drew is on the board of the Nassau Education Foundation, which provides classroom grants to public schools and recognizes teachers and students.
