John J Pershing Drive is a street in North Omaha, Nebraska. It starts at the Northern border of Omaha and ends at the eastern part of the Eppley Airport. It is named for John Joseph Pershing. About John J Pershing Drive is named for John Joseph Pershing, an army general from Laclede, Missouri. It was created in 1941 and dedicated to Pershing on Veteran's Day, 1941. John J Pershing Drive was created as a way to get from the northern reaches to Omaha to Abbott Drive and the Eppley Airfield. Route John J Pershing Drive starts at the intersection of River Drive and Ponca Road. It runs south to NP Dodge Park, and goes under I-680 next. It intersects Dick Collins Road, which leads to an interchange with I-680, US-75, and NE-36. Then, it goes through the neighborhood of Florence as the eastern border. Then, just south of Florence, it then intersects Florence Boulevard, leading to Downtown Omaha. At its intersection with Redick Avenue, it flattens out from a southeast course to east.
