John H. N. Fisher

John H. N. Fisher (born December 5, 1958) is an American businessman and venture capitalist. He co-founded Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ). Fisher is a board member and investor in SolarCity, CafeMedia, PulsePoint, and Renovate America, and he serves on the Investment Committee of DFJ’s Growth fund.
Education and early career
Fisher holds an A.B. degree from Harvard College and an M.B.A from Harvard Business School. Prior to co-founding DFJ, Fisher worked at ABS Ventures, where he focused on enterprise software and services. Earlier, Fisher gained industry experience at Alex Brown & Sons and Bank of America.
Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ)
In 1985 Tim Draper started a venture capital firm. Fisher became a partner in the firm in 1991, and Steve Jurvetson became the third partner in 1995. Fisher co-founded DFJ’s Growth fund in 2006.
His previous investments include Good Technology (acquired by Blackberry in 2015); SafeView (acquired by L3 in 2006); Webline Communications (acquired by Cisco in 2002); Selectica, which later became Determine (IPO 2000); Wit Capital, which later merged with SoundView and became SoundView Technologies (IPO 1999); Rightpoint, (acquired by Epiphany, Inc. in 1999); Software Quality Automation (IPO 1995); and Medior (acquired by AOL in 1995).
Personal
Fisher currently serves as a trustee of the California Academy of Sciences, and is on the board of Common Sense Media.
