Musical History
Thousand Foot Krutch (1999-Presant)
Joel joined TFK in 1999 as their third Bass Player. Joel had been a friend of Trevor McNevan, the lead signer of the group, as they grew up together in childhood. Joel's first record with TFK was the 2000 album Set It Off. Set It Off was a Rapcore/hard rock album which featured the lead single Puppet and also a cover of EMF's Unbelievable. Joel, besides his Bass chords, also contributed acoustic guitar. Joel stayed in the band throughout their switch from Rap to Metal, one of the only Members to do so. He has co-written all of TFK's song since his arrival. Joel is also well known for his strong Bass lines, giving TFK songs their full
flavor. As of 2007, Joel sings background vocals for Thousand Foot Krutch songs in concert, but it is unknown if he will sing in the studio. Joel is currently working with TFK on "Welcome to the Masquarade", their latest cd, and touring with them. They are set to reappear at Creation festival: The Tour.
The Drawing Room (2008-Present)
Aside from TFK, Joel started a solo project titled The Drawing Room. He first announced the project in 2008 by creating a myspace page. His first self-titled album was released digitly on March 24, 2009 and is now currently available in a compact disc form. The Drawing Room differs from Joel's work with Thousand Foot Krutch, useing more Acoustic guitars rather then electric. In a email sent out by TFK, Joel describes it below.
"The drawing room is a patchwork from years of sound bytes and ages of tuneful marinating. If you listen closely enough, you can hear the Juniper tree from outside said window swaying in the breeze on nearly every strain. Truthfully intended for headphone perusing, the likes of a heavily wooded trail, glass of blueberry juice in hand and a pace set slightly under breakneck, would suffice. Mmmm......breakneck. It has to be said that if not for the prop-up and sustain of a select few this story would have quite possibly slipped through the cracks or quite conceivably found it's way to a dust teeming corner behind an eerie looking refrigerator. They'll be awaiting your firm handshake."
