Joe Retta

Joseph Stephen Azzaretto (born September 5, 1964 Rochester, New York) is an American musician, songwriter, singer, drummer, guitarist, actor, and also plays lap steel, keyboards, flute, harmonica & percussion. He is best known for being lead singer in The Sweet, Heaven & Earth and Dio Disciples.
Biography
Early Music Career
Joe Retta’s career in music began in the 1980s in Southern California. He became known as a vocalist who could sing anything from Jazz and R&B to Rock. Despite being a single father of two daughters, who’s mother had passed from cancer, Joe pressed on as a session singer for television and radio. By 1990, Retta partnered with most of the members of Miami Sound Machine to create and record an album under the name “Kimera” with the Japanese label EMI/Toshiba.
As Retta was spreading his wings in Los Angeles, he guest starred on the ABC TV show “Cop Rock”. During his TV feature, he performed a solo song on the show.
2000s
His next music venture in 2006 led him to tour with Gregg Rolie (original singer and keyboardist for Santana and Journey). Joe sang the Steve Perry songs with Gregg Rolie Band, which included Gregg Rolie, Michael Carabello, Ron Wikso, Adrian Areas, Wally Minko, Alphonso Johnson & Kurt Griffey.
In 2006, he joined Sweet as their new lead singer.
Showing his vocal versatility, in 2015 Retta went on tour with Trans-Siberian Orchestra as Lead Singer, with Paul Oneil, Jon Olivia and Al Pitrelli. The following year he performed lead vocals with Creedence Clearwater Revisited (original members: Stu Cook & Doug Cosmo Clifford).
Today, Retta is still lead singer of The Sweet, Heaven & Earth & Dio Disciples.
