Elaine Caswell is a singer, heard on many recordings, and live appearances. Although her name is not instantly recognised she has performed as a backing singer with many major singers. The list includes albums by Cher, Celine Dion, Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler, Phyllis Hyman, John Waite and Jennifer Rush, Whitney Houston, and Robin Beck. She sang on the song "You Don't Own Me", which was featured on the soundtrack for the movie The First Wives' Club. She also fronted the Jim Steinman Band Pandora's Box as well as part of the early 80s singing duo "the neighbourhood" with Ellen Foley. She is also well known for her broadway appearances. She was also the voice of the 1984 jingle "Meet The Mets". She has also appeared on Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Fallon, and has sang on Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, Rachael Ray, Sesame Street, and films such as The First Wive's Club, Pokemon, Sex In the City and Robert Altman's Tanner On Tanner. On top of all this, her commercial career is very extensive. She is also involved in voice coaching and coached Julianne Moore in preparing for the movie "what Maisie Knew" (see reference at the bottom for link). Elaine partners her own show with Bette Susseman at Feinstein's at The Lowe's Regency. She is also a member of many other bands such as The Bev Leslies, Destination Moon, or as a member of the Americana/Roots collective The Harlem Parlor Music Club. Elaine Caswell has sung on many commercials such as Sears, Dr. Pepper, Chrysler-Plymouth, Pontiac, Pepsi, Nutri-System, Royal Caribbean, Cotton, Hasbro, Burger King, Hershey's Twizzlers, Kellogg's, Folgers, Navy and many others. She has sung live with many performers including Cyndi Lauper, Little Richard, Bonnie Raitt, Nona Hendryx, Darlene Love, Marc Shaiman and others. She also once sang the National Anthem at Shea Stadium (see reference at the bottom of this page.) before a Major League Baseball game between the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates. She has appeared at industrials for Little Caesars and Tagament. Elaine has done backup vocal singing on many studio albums. She attended Perrysburg High School, Ohio (See bottom of page) Jim Steinman Over the years Caswell has sung on demos for composer and lyricist Jim Steinman, many of which have been released to the public. These include demos for the songs "Braver Than We Are", "Vampires in Love" (this is the duet version of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" featured in Dance of the Vampires) and a minor part on the demo for "In the Land of the Pig The Butcher Is King". Pandora's Box Caswell was one of the four listed singing performers on the 1989 album ', by the group . The album was produced and, except for two songs, written by the group's creator Jim Steinman. Caswell sang lead vocals on the original releases of the songs "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" (before Celine Dion) and "It Just Won't Quit". Although the album was not a commercial success, both of the songs Caswell sang later found success with other singers. "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" was a hit single for Celine Dion in 1996, when it was the BMI Song of the Year. "It Just Won't Quit" was a track, not released as a single, on the multi-platinum album Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell sung by Meat Loaf. Caswell was featured in the music videos for Pandora's Box, including the video for "It's All Coming Back To Me Now". The Dream Engine Caswell was one of the singers for The Dream Engine, a music performance group that performed and recorded the work of composer and lyricist Jim Steinman. At their live shows, she sang the lead vocal on the song "It's All Coming Back To Me Now", one of the four lead vocal parts on the song "We're Still The Children We Once Were", lead vocals on the songs "Holding Out for a Hero" and "Total Eclipse of the Heart", "Loving You's a Dirty Job but Somebody's Gotta Do It" as a duet with Rob Evan, and backup vocals, as applicable, on many other songs performed by The Dream Engine. This project has not performed or been active in public since 2006, aside from having a website and Myspace page. Joe Jackson In the 1980s, Caswell sang on the world tour of Joe Jackson. On his album Body and Soul, Caswell sang the female lead vocal part on the duet called "Happy Ending". She was also featured in the music video for the song.
