Joe Gosman Band

Joe Gosman Band, sometimes shortened to JGB, is an American rock band formed in Chesapeake, Virginia known for their realism and original melodies. The currently roster consists of Joe Gosman, Joel Adkins, Keith Darrow, Dean Howard, and Chandler Nunnally.
The Joe Gosman Band has opened up for bands like Fountains of Wayne, The Smithereens, and Tonic.
History
Joe Gosman first picked up a guitar at the age of 17. He learned a few chords from his Aunt Barbara and has been off to the races ever since. During his college years, he played at local venues as he honed his craft. After graduating from college, he returned to his hometown of Chesapeake, Virginia. Upon his return, he started producing his first original CD with songs that he had written over the years. Joe joined up with various musicians for his self recorded and self produced "Where is Home?" album in 2006. After this album, Joe started a trio consisting of Steve Robinson on bass and Henrique Gomes on drums. After about a year together, Steve left the band to focus more on school, and Henrique got a job playing drums with a touring cover band. Over the course of the next year, small steps would be made that would eventually lead to a larger ensemble. After a chance meeting, Joe asked fellow friend, Joel Adkins, to play percussion and guitar with him for a few shows at local coffee shop. From there, John Ashley joined the duo to play drums. Former college mate, Chris Horton, started playing bass for the group shortly thereafter. Joe's friend from church, David Springstead, came on to play guitar as well. After many random outing with different mutual friends, Joe asked Keith to play piano and harmonica with the band. Thus, in 2008, the initial incarnation of the five member Joe Gosman Band began.
Together, the Joe Gosman Band rocked all over the Hampton Roads area with their mix of original songs and favorite covers. They started work on a new full band album. In 2009, Dave left to focus on his band that he had recently started, and Chris left to play with another local group. Keith asked Dean Howard to join in on bass, and Joel left his percussion set behind to focus on his role on guitar. The momentum kept rolling from there (much like those 18 Wheels). More shows and more studio time came to follow. The final product, "Empty Walls", was released in 2010 at the Chesapeake Jubilee where the band opened up for Tonic. Recently, John Ashley has left the group to focus on his career. Chandler Nunnally has followed in John's footsteps with provided killer beats and grooves on the kit.
The band loves to perform and give a high energy show every time they play. While the music and melodies are important, every member of the band admits that it is the connection with the crowd that really motivates them. The band also loves to perform for many philanthropic efforts, such as the FoodBank of Virginia, Chesapeake Care Free Clinic, and the Relay for Life. Currently, the band is focusing on expanding their reach over the local music scene and writing new original songs that everyone can connect with.
