Jim Willis (born 1946) is an American author, minister, and musician. Specializing in research involving vanished civilizations, suppressed history, comparative religion, and the study of earth energy, dowsing, and out-of-body experience, he is the author of more than a dozen books on spirituality and arcane or buried cultures. Biography A graduate of the Eastman School of Music as a symphony trombonist in 1968, having studied with Emory Remington, professor of trombone, and Allen Ostrander of the New York Philharmonic, he has been taught by and performed under internationally known conductors including Howard Hanson, Frederick Fennell, Van Cliburn, Eugene Ormandy, Aram Khachaturian, Valter Poole, Joseph Maddy, Orien Dalley, and William Revelli. He went on to perform with the Eastman Philharmonia, the Syracuse Symphony, and the East Coast Symphony in Daytona Beach, Florida. His conducting proficiency led him to direct choral societies such the Quabbin Valley Pro Musica in New England and various church and community choirs. He further became an adjunct college professor in the fields of comparative religion and instrumental music. Willis was ordained as a protestant minister in 1973. He subsequently served in the United Church of Christ, after receiving his Master’s Degree from Andover Newton Theological School in Andover, MA. Combining music and ministry, he has served churches throughout New England, Arizona, and Florida for over 40 years, before retiring from active ministry to invest in his research and writing. In 1998, while an adjunct college professor in the field of world religion at Mount Wachusett Community College in Central Massachusetts, Willis wrote The Religion Book: Places, Prophets, Saints, and Seers , his first book with reference publisher, Visible Ink Press. This was followed by Armageddon Now: The End of the World A to Z , written with his wife, Barbara Willis. Progressing in his research from contemporary comparative religion to the roots of antediluvian spirituality, dating back to prehistoric civilizations, his studies centered on earth energies, focusing on ley lines and dowsing, meditation and out of body experiences, profiled in his books, The Dragon Awakes: Rediscovering Earth Energy in an Age of Science and The Quantum Akashic Field: A Guide to Out-of-Body Experiences for the Astral Traveler . Since then, his studies have centralized on the scientific consensus about the origins of civilization and the dichotomy of conventional perspectives promoted in academia versus those debunked by the mainstream academic community, as probed in his books Lost Civilizations: The Secret Histories and Suppressed Technologies of the Ancients and Hidden History: Ancient Aliens and the Suppressed Origins of Civilization .
