Jim Hurysz

James T. "Jim" Hurysz (born February 3, 1947) is an independent businessman, CEO, and consultant in manufacturing quality assurance. From 1988 to 2008 he served on the U.S. technical advisory group to ISO Technical Committee 176, which develops the ISO 9000 quality assurance standards. He is also active in the fields of data quality and information quality. He is a political progressive, who has run unsuccessfully for the Arlington, Virginia County Board, and the U.S. House of Representatives in Virginia's 8th congressional district. He sought the Democratic Party nomination during his Board campaigns and ran as an independent/Progressive in the Congressional races of 2004 and 2006, attempting to unseat Jim Moran (D), incumbent in that seat since 1991. In 2007 he persuaded the United States Federal Election Commission to allow foreign nationals to be volunteers and paid campaign workers in federal election campaigns. His recent activities include analyzing the profound structural deficiencies in the U.S. economy, and the environmental devastation throughout the United States caused by largely-uncontrolled economic development, to determine the socio-economic characteristics of the United States in 2090 when the U.S. population will reach 600 million.
