Jim Chimezie Okolo is a Nigerian businessman from Anambra State, south-eastern Nigeria and the managing director and CEO of Jimez Petroleum Resources Ltd, a company in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. Early Life and Education Jim Chimezie Okolo was born in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. He hails from Obosi in IdemiIli North Local Government Area of Anambra State. He attended Government College Makurdi before pursuing a degree in Geology and Mining at Enugu State University of Science and Technology. During his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, Okolo served in Jos, Plateau State, under the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) initiative. His qualifications also include a postgraduate diploma in Electoral Monitoring and Evaluation, organized by the University of Lomé in collaboration with the African Union and the United Nations. He also attended Concept College, London where he obtained a certificate in Project Management and also studied Hydrogeology at the M.Sc level at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). In January 2023, Jim Okolo bagged an honorary Doctorate Award from Learn To Live Business School, a business institute in United Kingdom (LLBSUK) in recognition of his contributions in strategic management and leadership development. This he received few months after European-American University honoured him with the Honorary Doctorate Degree award in Lagos, and one year after he also bagged a Doctorate Degree of Philosophy from Freedom University, USA. Business career Jim Okolo is the managing director and CEO of Jimez Petroleum Resources Ltd, a company in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. He is a businessman and has played roles supporting the nation's energy Industry as the managing director and CEO of Jimez Petroleum Resources Ltd. Okolo is also the Chief Executive Officer of Jim Mezie Foundation, a non-governmental organization committed to promotion of growth and development of less privileged members of the society. The foundation focuses on community development, youth empowerment, and providing support for the less privileged. He was appointed the West African coordinator of Universal Migration Enlightenment Centre (UMEC). He is Nigeria's Country Representative for the US Latino America Chamber of Commerce (USLACC), promoting trade, economic growth, and humanitarian efforts. He has also served as Lead Consultant for Economic, Trade, and Investment to the Turkish Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.<ref name":6" /><ref name":5" /> Advocacy As the National Coordinator and Special Envoy of Nouvelle Perspective, a partner organization with the United Nations, Okolo has participated in multiple international election observation missions. He monitored the 2020 United States elections, where he observed the contest between Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump. Recently, He was also appointed Nigerian Team Lead of International Election Observers by the UN and the Swiss government. In March 2024, Okolo was appointed as an International Elections Diplomat by the United Nations after completing an intensive training at the University of Lome, Togo. He also holds the position of Coordinator for West Africa at the Global Migration Research Institute (GMRI), Maryland, USA, and Universal Migration Enlightenment Centre (UMEC).<ref name=":4" />
