Jesse Lawrence (1 May 1975) is an English filmmaker born and raised in London. As a child he starred in a series of Bob Marley music videos directed by Don Letts, namely “One Love”, “Waiting in Vain” and “Get Up, Stand Up”. Jesse began writing and directing when he formed the theatre company Firewater Productions with school friend Cristian Solimeno, before focusing his attention on documentary filmmaking where he produced and directed films for Channel 4 Television as well as the Marjan Television Network. A Screen International Star of Tomorrow Jesse wrote and directed two back to back shorts under the competitive UK Film Council umbrella - supernatural twister Mash Up, which screened and competed in over 25 international film festivals including Venice, Toronto and the BFI London Film Festival, and Much Ado About A Minor Ting, a 27-minute chase thriller, which picked up a Kodak Best Cinematography Award at the BFM Film Festival 2008. Jesse made his feature directorial debut with gross-out comedy The Knot, starring Noel Clarke and Mena Suvari and released by Universal Pictures in 2012.
