Jerome Hipolito

Jerome Mendoza Hipolito (born in Calabanga, Camarines Sur) is a Bicolano writer. He writes poetry, essay, and short story in Bikol, Filipino asin Ingles. In 2008, he won the second prize at the Premio Tomas Arejola para sa Literaturang Bikolnon in poetry category for his works Pagbunag nin Paroy asin iba pan rawitdawit.
He is a college professor at Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) in Calabanga, Camarines Sur. He founded the CBSUA Writers Workshop and the San Miguel Bay Area Writers Workshop held annually in his hometown.
Publication
Hipolito is one of the editors of An Tambobong nin Literaturang Bikolnon being by BikolianA asin Sumaro Bikolnon released in 2010 until 2011.
The Ateneo Institute of Literary Arts and Practices (AILAP) published his first collection of poems entitled Oda sa Tadik (2010). The chapbook included forty (40) Bikol poetry with translation in Tagalog by Kristian Cordero. In 2012, the Salabay and An Banwa: Kultura buda Artes kan Tabaco (ABKAT) published his second collection of poems entitled Lobo which was launched together with other books at the Bicol University College of Arts and Letters on August 31, 2012.
At the Rimpos: art-literature Exhibition kan Salingoy Art Group, his works appeared along with the paintings of Sylene B. Sabino. The activity was held at Naga City Art Gallery in Jesse M. Robredo Coliseum from May 4-18, 2013. A souvenir publication edited by Eilyn Nidea was released which included articles on the works of the participating artists.
His poem entitled Buradol was anthologized in Sagurong: 100 na Kontemporanyong Rawitdawit sa Manlain-lain na Tataramon Bikol (DLSU, 2011), and several others in the annual journal Burak, An Tambobong Nin Literaturang Bikolnon, and literary folios Saringsing and Rimpos.
Another collection of poetry in his mother tongue entitled Padangat was self-published at the Better Living Through Xeroxography Naga on July 30, 2016.
Organization
In 2010, Parasurat Bikolnon was created wherein Hipolito served as its founding vice president. He also served as the chairman in the committee on publication and the editor of Saringsing, the organization's literary folio.
He joined the reorganized Kabulig-Bikol writers group and the cultural network Sumaro Bikolnon wherein he served as a director from 2010-2011.
He founded The Writers Project school organization at CBSUA-Calabanga.
CBSUA Writers Workshop
In 2014, he served as a panelist at the TALA Poetry Workshop (2014) and Saringsing Writers Workshop.since 2013 to present. On the same year, he organized the CBSUA Writers Workshop which is held annually in Calabanga, Camarines Sur.<ref name="CBSUA WW"/>
