Jeanette Zacarías Zapata

Jeanette Zacarías Zapata (October 6, 2002 - September 2, 2021) was a Mexican professional boxer in the welterweight division. She passed away at the age of 18 after being injured in a bout in Montreal, Canada.
Death
On August 28, 2021, Zacarías Zapata faced Marie Pier Houle in an eight-round bout at the GVM Gala International event at IGA Stadium in Montreal. During the fourth round, Zapata was knocked down after taking a series of punches, including a left uppercut and a right hook. After the final blow, she appeared dazed and was unable to return to her corner. She collapsed and began convulsing, prompting medical staff to rush her to the hospital.
Zapata was placed in a medically induced coma, but tragically passed away on September 2, 2021, five days later, from the injuries sustained during the fight.
