Jason Scott Alexander

Short Bio
Jason Scott Alexander is mix engineer, record producer and remixer based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He is also a frontier-technologist and widely published author on recording, pro audio, broadcast, entertainment law, wireless security and technology lifestyle subjects.

Jason Scott Alexander is a familiar name to professionals within the recording and broadcast industries worldwide. For over 15 years, he has been bringing the latest “trends, toys and technologies” to novice and Grammy-winning songwriters, record producers, remixers, and engineers through his writings in leading publications such as MIX, Remix, Sound On Sound, and Virtual Instruments. Alex Oana, writer for Pro Audio Review, considers Alexander's 2006 article on the Waves SSL 4000 Collection a bar-setting, in-depth review, exemplary of Alexander's masterful writing on computer recording technology. Mainstream pop, urban and underground dance music fans have each enjoyed reading his in-depth technology features, artist interviews and “how to” tutorials - though, the self-confessed technology junkie admits that “getting to play with all the coolest gear before anyone else does” is often his biggest thrill each month. Jason has also been an outspoken proponent/analyst/conceptualist of frontier technologies and new-media business models to the oftentimes-stuffy major record labels. Through appearances at conferences, seminars and his trade affiliations with the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB), and the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), Jason has been a driving force behind many great advancements in breaking down the “skewed” commercial playlist barriers and clarifying Technology Law and Intellectual Property issues affecting music rights holders, the recording industry and broadcast media - together, directly benefiting recording artists with wider exposure in this ever-changing digital landscape.

Always one to keep his plate completely full, all of the time, Jason is also involved in production at his private world-class all-digital facility in beautiful Ottawa, Canada, plus A&R duties with several labels. His most recent pride and joy is a sexy girl-girl fronted band from L.A. called Saucy Monky (olivoiL/WEA), for which he played a pivotal role in helping to establish in Ireland and the UK to the tune of Top-10 annual spins. His next major project is to launch a privately-funded “imprint” firm that aims to assist amazingly talented acts like Saucy Monky, by finding their promotional ‘sweetspot’ through a culmination of frontier technologies and traditional label ‘back-end’ operations.
